SLK/R171: SLK55 Order
I've ordered an SLK55 AMG and hope to take delivery around Nov 04.
I'm surprised there is not more interest in this car on this forum. This will probably be the most exciting Merc to emerge for some time. I assume it will have 367bhp and will make a glorious noise like the CLK55 - or perhaps more like the fantastic SL55 note if the CLK500-SL500 differences are anything to go by.
I was never a great fan of the SLK32; I'm not surprised it flopped as I had an old SLK320 which was good but not brilliant. I loved my C32, and the prospect of a V8 AMG is a new small (and I assume fully "sorted") roadster chassis sounds great - I feel that the SLK55 will be just the ticket to replace my current SL350, which is great, but rather expensive and a bit OTT.
Anyone else getting excited about the SLK55? I can't believe how little discussion there is about it, as I think its going to be an absolute winner. The "want one" factor should be off the scale!
I also owned an SLK, the 230K, which I became rather bored with after 4 years but recently had a drive in the 32 AMG and it felt like a completely different car. I was prepared for the obvious improvement in straight line acceleration but the AMG actually seemed to handle well which the older model certanly didnt.
SLK55 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but the overall shape kinda reminds me of the Lexus SC430...
but this baby is much more aggressive...
Is that front bumper standard for the SLK55 AMG in the states?
I know that F1 bumper for the W209 CLK55 AMG is not available in the states...

Its a little car! Its tight, and small, and its nose is all hooked and distorted. Its a (gulp) hairdressers car.. It won't suit you, its a Kylie car. I hate it. The SL350 is not over the top - the more I see it the more understated, in a family way, it is. Soo much room, so much a real tourer, a big real car.
If I sell mine, I'm getting a 6-series. I just can't go back to the SLK. It just doesn't fit.
The "want one factor" didn't register on my scale....
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
This car is more exciting to me than anything I can remember since the awfully long but worthwhile wait for the last E46 M3 (I eventually got hold of a Carbon Black/Cinnamon SMG cab which was awesome).
Any more photos? My mind is made up - I'm having one.
Only trouble is, I want silver and the wife wants black......
Now that I'd consider a heavy hint...

Get that new Silky pink metallic in the photograph, it suits the car perfectly....
