Omg... Slk
Today was the first time i saw the new SLK.
The car is wonderful... One of the best BENZ ever made...
What can i say?
Perfect interior, awesome exterior bodykit.
Beautiful 17` wheels, perfect multifunctional steering wheel...
But i really got excited with the new 6speed manual transmition! Very short shift!
Tomorrow is the official presentation of the new SLK.
I will drive the car and i will post for more info.

I drove it.
SLK200 Kompressor R171 with 163ps and 240NM Torgue. (6speed manual transmition)
The car is amazing.
Very good engine sound!! (the deck was open)
Perfect handling, but if you turn off the ESP the car is dancing!
Everybody looks at this car!

2008 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, 2001 Acura 3.2 CL
how's the 6-speed? does it feel like other mercedes' or is it better? my impression so far was that benz had cracked the secret to a good manual grearbox with this one.

They've got the right combination with the manny this time, crisp precise shifts and a short-throw shifter.

Mercedes make a great job at SLK` s manual grearbox.

I` ve read on a magazine that SLK is provided with a new gearbox developed by ZF. The 6gear SLK` s gearbox is the same as this used by Honda S2000.

this is untrue, mercedes is one of the last company that build all their gear-boxes (manual and auto) by their own. the new 6speed is also 100% mercedes-stuff.
i have driven it last saturday in the new c-class and it worked fine! strange is that you dont have to push/pull the stick to get into the reverse-gear. now its left beside the first gear (BMW-style)
