Manual box from a Honda S2000?

I saw somewhere on the forum that the SLK350 manual gearbox is the same as the 6 speed in the Honda S2000.

Is this fact or speculation?

If fact thats great news as the S2000 gearbox is fantastic!

Yes, yes it is a great gearbox! I'm sure the Honda was the benchmark but I don't know if it's the same box...

The thread that mentioned this is:

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ighlight=s2000

Half way down the first page posted by ntamp..... in fact one of the follow-up posts suggests that the gearbox is nothing to do with the S2000..... its 100% MB..... so lets hope its as good as the S2000s!

I doubt very much that the transmission from an S2000 found its way into a Mercedes product, but having an S2000 I can assure you that you would be quite happy if they even got close to the feel and accuracy of the Honda.

Yes..... you'll probably have noticed in my last post that I pointed out that the S2000 rumor was wrong...... also that I currently own an S2000 as well hence I know that its gearbox is one of the best...... I've since seen reviews of the SLK350 manual which suggest that although its much better than the old SLK its still not as good as the best.

from what i've read in magazines, most if not all editors rave the new SLK's manny gearbox as one of the best on the market right now for sport roadsters

Fingers crossed that it is as good as some reviews are saying! I'll reserve judgement until I drive one myself.

Yeah, the S2000 gearbox is great. I've owned an S2000 for 3 years now and the car is great.
