SLK/R171 Quality of the standard sound system

Quality of the standard sound system

Does anyone have an opinion about the quality of the slk standard sound system ? Is any better than a typical car sound system ?

I believe it's HK and it should be the same class as Mark Levinson, much better than Bose.

I really like Bose because they are very good with their sound systems and stuff. I don't know what the standard speakers are from what company, but I put my rap and hip hop cd in there and all I got to say was wow. There was no subwoofer but it was shaking. It was not like ear hurting, it was nice, I could feel the booms. So thats what made me not upgrade to the Entertainment package, where you get Harman Kardon amp and speakers. But, think about it, if the standard is really really damn good, I wonder how the upgraded speaker system will sound. The Entertainment Package does not come with a subwoofer either. I was reading through the threads and I found a guy that wrote, "THERE ARE NO SUBWOOFERS, BUT THERE ARE TWO WOOFERS IN THE DOORS, ONE FOR EACH DOOR". I have never heard of a woofer, but if there is, then thats what made the sound system sound real good. Southern California, USA.

I had the standard Bose in my C32 and we now have the HK in our E55. While it doesn't have enough bass, it is a big step up over the Bose. We are thinking of getting an SLK350 next year. I am 6'1" so I am tad worried about comfort, but it's a really fun car.
