SLK/R171: 7-Speed Operation
Thanks.
Once in a while when driving hard, it may chose the wrong gear and change down. This takes half a second to correct itself so no big deal.
You would have to be driving the car extremely hard to notice.
All in all its the best Auto I have driven by miles
Though when the demo car came in to teach the sales reps., and this car was not for customer test driving and all, but the demo rep. guy said he would drive the car and I sit in the passenger seat. This was a SLK 350 automatic too. This was my first time being in the SLK 350. For some reason, he was downshifting and upshifting really hard and something would like quiet. He said if you push it to hard and stuff that happens. But I think he didn't want to be embarresed that he was doing something wrong. Seriously I thought the engine was going to fall out and maybe thought he was going to break the transmission.
So all in all, if you do crappy gear shifting, the car will realize what a bad driver you are, and will stop(not really sure if it completely stops). This is good cause you don;t want to damage anything and it means that your car is telling you that you are a bad driver and learn how to gear shift.
My experience test driving the car was good though no problems at 110 mph.
