Question 7-Speed Operation

I'm planning on ordering an SLK 350 soon, and though I want an automatic, I'm a little concerned about the operation of the 7-speed transmission based on a couple of the reviews I've seen. They say it occasionally has a hard time making up its mind. If you have an automatic, would you mind sharing your experience? Have you noticed "indecision" on the part of the automatic transmission?

Thanks.

I have had my 7g since August now and it is brilliant. Smooth in comfort mode and a beast in sports mode.
Once in a while when driving hard, it may chose the wrong gear and change down. This takes half a second to correct itself so no big deal.
You would have to be driving the car extremely hard to notice.

All in all its the best Auto I have driven by miles

I have not gotten my SLK 350 yet, but I went to the dealership for a test drive. The SLK 350 was automatic. I was going 110 mph on the freeway. Top was down too. Fun as hell. The dealership guy did not care, he just said that the dealership doesn't pay for the tickets. Didn't get a ticket and there was no problems of downshifting or upshifting.

Though when the demo car came in to teach the sales reps., and this car was not for customer test driving and all, but the demo rep. guy said he would drive the car and I sit in the passenger seat. This was a SLK 350 automatic too. This was my first time being in the SLK 350. For some reason, he was downshifting and upshifting really hard and something would like quiet. He said if you push it to hard and stuff that happens. But I think he didn't want to be embarresed that he was doing something wrong. Seriously I thought the engine was going to fall out and maybe thought he was going to break the transmission.

So all in all, if you do crappy gear shifting, the car will realize what a bad driver you are, and will stop(not really sure if it completely stops). This is good cause you don;t want to damage anything and it means that your car is telling you that you are a bad driver and learn how to gear shift.

My experience test driving the car was good though no problems at 110 mph.

Yes I like to know if any major issues...I m doubt..
I have blindly given confidence in the 7G tranny. Besides, which auto transmission is 'perfect' ?
