I see you have the MB 18" wheels. What's the story, did you buy new from MB parts, purchase used, and what was the cost if I can ask. I've always liked those wheels. They're the 18" (two piece) version of the 17" SLK Launch wheel.

At the time of purchase, these were on sale for $695 each (buy 3 get one free) so I paid $2085 for 4 with the staggered setup. The dealer installed them free as part of the deal. These wheels with the staggered setup make the car look totally different (no more Miata look alike). The 16s just don't cut it!

Yup, I like those 18" MB wheels. You got a super price. I checked, through MB parts, four come to $3600 plus. As I've said before, 18" minimum, 19" depending on the wheel. Sixteen inch wheels should be outlawed. I like the look of the SLK 16" wheel, just not the size. on your SLK 280.

No it isn't, our SLK230 is based on the older model SLK (r170), SLK200 are the same body style as your's (r171). It's not sold here in the states, only Europe and Asia.

Here are the specs:

Max torque: 177lb ft @ 3000-4000rpm

My wife swears she saw a couple 2007 silver MB's with ID markings of slk230 "kompressor" cruising around town today. She believes the body is slightly different than a 280 or 350; very plain, almost square looking. By chance, anyone else?

yeah, she probably saw the R170 model, since she saw:
- SLK230 badge
- Kompressor badge
- plain-looking "square" car
- different from current 280 and 350 (R171 with SLR-nose)

Here's the timeline:
2004 and older: R170 model
2005: R171 introduced: SLK350, SLK55 AMG
2006: R171 continued: SLK280 added, SLK350, SLK55 AMG
2007: R171 continued: SLK280, SLK350, SLK55 AMG

9moon, your wheels looks great but ur ride isn't. lower it, add a lip or something cuz its freaking ugly. Hence, put the 0 back to the 280 why just 28 brabus. It just look stupid buddy.

Hey guys,

Well it's pretty much a stock 2006 SLK 280 in 6-spd Manual. I thought maybe I'd post anyways because I don't think you guys see much of the Orion Blue down in the states. It's nothing fancy, but I just added AMG Lip spoiler, 350 rims, OEM plexiglass for more top-down enjoyment and 23% tint. That's it for now, but planning to Eibach drop as well as maybe something small like pulleys or chip. Not sure for now.



I think maybe a 1.0 inch drop or so?

$7,500 plus and counting, just on cosmetics, I'm a DIYer so if I wasn't then it would cost even more. Not done yet, there isn't really anything else I want to do in regards to asthetics, now I'm waiting for more performance mods, unfortunatley, there isn't a lot for the 350. Thanks for the compliment.
