SLK/R171: g35 vs. slk350

g35 vs. slk350
which one has better performance?
I know these two are different type of cars but they both got 3.5L NA engine and they are considered sporty.
of course slk350 is more expensive and all that jazz, but anyone encountered one of those in their slk350?

Termigni, I actually owned a 03' G35 Coupe AT before purchasing the SLK350. In terms of overall build I believe the MB is alot better built than the G35. The MB feels alot more sturdier in cornering as well as almost no roll at all. With the G35 in tight cornering there was always some roll. The G35's VQ engines was great with lots of play at both ends of the spectrum (high end and low end power). The car had great push as well as hanging with some of the 'big dogs' in top end power. I did not really like the AT as much as I do in the MB though. The AT in the MB's are simply amazing, I really enjoy how the transmission adapts to the drivers current driving situation. My year G35 was rated at 280HP, but I believe the current ones are 290HP. I actually feel like my SLK350 is alot more nimbler and torquier than my old G35 (weight issues maybe). The SLK350 can probably keep up with the 03', but for the 05' I really do not know. In my opinion I believe you get what you paid for and with MB you get an overall much better built car w/o dealing with all the rattles and squeaks found in the others (knock on wood). i do know that german cars are usually geared better. I've heard E36 M3s give good fight against g35s (even to a victory). that's quite impressive IMO since M3s have ~240hp and G35 have ~280(?). but it's all about the wheel horse power.
