I have a problem opening my vario roof on the R172.This is due to damage to the cable for the LH rear side window motor which is closed. The WIS indicates the motor and it's connection for a new cable can only be accessed via the rear shelf with the roof open and the operating sequence of the roof is that the side windows must open first. The local dealer first suggested removing the rear lining and panels,safety belt reel etc behind the passenger seat but the window/motor appear to be in a separate compartment. I would appreciate any advice as the only other option suggested by the dealer was the removal/reinstallation of the roof at considerable cost. There is a procedure for manual closing of the R171 roof but not sure this is applicable.
