Transmission MT?

I saw there was an option for a Manual Transmission for the SLK series, except for the AMG model. Is there a reason for this? I'd almost rather buy the lesser car, and have a 6-spd MT, than an auto AMG.

That's my big beef too!! As far as I know, there are no plans to have a MT in any AMG model. Quite the opposite compared to BMW where you can't get an AT in the M models.

Don't knock it before you try it...

The auto in the SLK32 is about as good as it gets and can be used in manual mode although it still does have a mind on its own at times. It has track type programming where is will downshift under hard braking and maintain gears during aggressive cornering. Don't get me wrong, it is still not a manual but as an automatic it doesn't get much better.

If the manual is more important to you, consider a Corvette conv. However, aside from the SL55, it you want a convertible with a hardtop there are not many choices. None currently available with a manual.
