SLK32 Crank No Start
Hello All. My grandfather received his SLK32 again after it was left in Vancouver to be shipped back to the UK. The car has now arrived back home and it's clearly been tampered with - the main culprit being that he left the car in the port with half a tank of fuel, and it arrived back in the UK with the fuel tank drained and the windows opened, with the keys in the ignition. Car was DOA.
Regardless, we knew something wasn't going to be right, so we brought a tank of petrol to fill it up with when it arrived. Added 13 litres, charged the battery with a booster and tried to start. Engine kept cranking, but not wanting to start. We had the same issue with our E55, so I suggested Crank/Cam Sensor since that was what our issue was. Next day we return with a spare battery and a basic OBD scanner. Car now has power, and we plug in the scanner. No codes found. We tried starting again, nothing. Scanned just after it finished, still no codes to determine an issue.
One thing to note is that after we tried to start, we did smell fuel coming from the engine bay. The coil packs and spark plugs were replaced before it came here, too.
Would any of you have any suggestions on what to look at? We feel like it might even be a fuel filter but we may have to call someone with the proper tools and equipment to diagnose. We didn't hear the fuel pump prime, but again we aren't too sure as we did actually smell fuel in the engine bay during cranking.
