Is allocation really this low?
I was in my MB dealership recently checking on my order which is a May build for early July delivery. I asked my great salesperson if he could look to see when their next SLK 55 was coming in so that I could swing by and check it out in person (before mine showed up). I was shocked when he said that the next one even showing on his system as "on order, being built, on the water, or in delivery" was mine. Since this dealer has only delivered one SLK 55 since December and mine will be only the second one delivered in July, that means they will have ONLY gotten two allocation spots in 8 months?!?!
Can this be right? This is a major MB dealer with two locations. Supposedly their other location is in the same situation so that means best case scenario, four allocations in 8 months?
Just curious if others are seeing the same thing.

JS,
Here in Seattle the situation is no different. There are 2 major MB dealers and both of them have around 6 slots each, for 2005 model.
My dealer, does not anticipate having a build slot for a 2006 model until July or August. It is more of a hope due to the limited availability of the AMG products. I've heard that for US, only 1000 SLK 55's per year will be available.

The allocation mainly depends on the size of the dealership and how many cars they sell every month/year. Dealers in California should be allocated the most cars. I have been told the number of cars being sold in California in one year equals to the number of cars being sold in the entire Canada in one year!! Can you believe that?
