Dealer markup
My dealer said he was able to get his hands on an SLK55 but he had to trade three vehicles to do it. Therefore he's asking for an extra $5k. I know the 55's are hard to come by, but does this seem reasonable?

If your dealer hasn't yet made the trade, you should just call around to every MB dealer within 100 miles and find out where the car is, then buy it directly from that dealer.

I got similar stories from many dealers. I eventually got sick of it and just hired a broker. Paid the guy $500 and he found a car at MSRP with much faster delivery than any dealers were quoting.

Try dealing directly with fleet managers of dealerships. Also, not sure if you have a Costco near you. they have a "no hassle" auto program. friends and relatives out here in california have used it. all paid $500 over invoice for their vehicles. www.costcoauto.com
