Slk63?
Anybody have any idea when will MB start to put 6.3 liter engine into SLK model? I'm in the market for a car right now. Waiting for either E90 M3 or Slk 63 amg.. I've heard E90 m3 will come out next year as 07 model? What about SLK63?

AFTER the bigger bodies get it. No sense in having the little guy trounce the big kids. And there is some discussion as to whether it will get it or not. My bet is, it will, but when the larger and heavier cars have had it for a bit.

Rumors say end of 2007. So nope, it won't be anytime soon. Other rumors also say it will be limited to just 400hp or maybe a bit more.
MB probably don't want to sell a light 500hp car that costs half as much as their slightly more powerful (yet much heavier) siblings such as the CL65/SL65. Maybe if the come out with the SL69 (apparently they registered this name) or an even larger 73 (the 7.3 liter engine is already being used in the Pagani Zonda).
But like I said, rumors at best. You'll be waiting for it at least 2 years. But if you do order it now, you'll be the first one to get it
(waiting time, depending on your dealer, can be anywhere from 3-12 months).

I have heard that it will be available in summer 2006 as a 2007 model. I don't know how much longer the 55 engine will be in production, but it doesn't make much sense for mb to continue making 2 engines side by side. This is an evolutionary upgrade, much like the 7G transmission. The SLK got the 7G first, but by next year they'll have it.
55 owners don't have too much to be upset about, the 55 is a damn fine engine. It is still a wee bit better than whatever junk the competition is selling that won the jack in the box award 5 years in a row.
And if the 63 really upsets you, then spend $7500 on an HPS supercharger and all is well again in AMG land.
