That is not true. I ordered and recieved my 20" HRE 547R's last summer for my SL55 and the tire that HRE suggested was a PS2.

This is what Peter told me:
If a PS2 tire is rated at 245, it's really a 255 because of its corners.

Honestly i don't see that ever happening.

Well, i have personally sold a set of HRE 547Rs 2 weeks ago for my customer with a SLK350 with Brabus lowering springs and we did 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 with 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 PS2's and we never had ANY rubbing issues at all. Infact i am about to do an SLK55 with Carlsson wheels in a week or so and we are going to put a 10" rear with the same size PS2's.

The front bumper does not make a difference with rubbing issues.
The AMG cars actually come with their fenders rolled from the factory, so if anything it would have been more of an issue on the SLK350 then the SLK55.

Found out from Fast55, not only does TIRE RACK have set prices (for the Neros, $306 - meanwhile over the phone, I had guys from other places quoting me over $400 ea) and allow you to price tires online, there's NO SALES TAX, and shipping is supposedly only around $25 (for two tires), and they have even rare tires usually IN STOCK, so they can ship right away.
I ended up having to pay $325 ea, with tax (the cheapest I could find in OC), and I am still waiting to find out when they are going to get them in

How are the Pirelli Nero's?

I don't know any different, so I guess they are good. They work good with the ESP/EPS whatever thing. I can go around corners without sliding, and when the car kind of jumps over instead, the tires just hang onto the road and let the car push away and take off really well. I think, with the Brasbus suspension kit and the ESP/PS?, the tires may be part of what make the car like magic.

As stated, around 6,000 mi for the back, the front I hear will last thru 3 back tire changes.
Again, as stated, I've only had Nero's, which are supposed to be all-season, so I don't know how others compare????

A lot of the 19" sizes have out-of-round issues also, especially:
235/35/19
315/25/19
245/35/19
275/30/19
which cause a lot of vibrations on Porsche and MB. When we were still selling PS2s, Michelin exchanged around 14 tires for me within a 6 week period. From then on, we said no more PS2s.
