And so has my local dealer. He says he will not order another 55.

On my second car, the transmission failed twice. MBUSA kindly refunded my money. I now drive a new BMW 645ci convertible.

Good luck to you all. I have just had terrible luck with this car. And I love it, it was great fun to drive and it looks fantastic. Mine was pewter and I highly recommend that color. Maybe an SLK63 in the future.

Also, this is a great forum. I learned a lot and I appreciate the enthusiasm of its members.

Adios

Damn, I'm sorry to hear that, Rascal. My 55 is supposed to be here on Friday, and after seeing your post, I'm certainly feeling some trepidation.

On the plus side, that 645 is a damn fine-lookin' car! Hope you enjoy it!

The 645 is the ONLY BMW that I'd take over a Benz.. you did well. Sorry MBUSA sucks so bad.

IM sorry to hear your troubles with your dealer and your SLK55. I hope you will come back to MB perhaps when the new detuned 6.3 liter is put into the SLK.

You have trepidation because out of all the happy owners currently on this board, one person, who has suspiciously gone thru two cars, has switched to BMW???

_ALL_ the happy owners? Sure, there are plenty of happy owners here, but if you've been reading all the postings, there are a LOT of people with oil-consumption problems, transmission problems, door rattle problems, ESP failure problems, electronics problems, COMAND failure problems, and more.

I'm certainly not going to cancel my order over them, but I'd have to be a complete idiot to not be at all concerned!

And I know that you tried to make the case that Rascal's transmission problems were somehow his own fault, but I find that extremely unlikely, if not downright comedic.

Go on the Z06 or Aston Martin and you'll see the same thing. Hign end priced vehicles are not immune to Ford like quality. The more **** they put in, the more **** can go wrong. You just have to pay and pray. Or is it prey.

Hmmm, a broken SLK or a 645... SLK of course! What were you thinking?

I would have driven a loaner until they resolved the issues and locked in a crazy deal on a trade for when the 63 comes out.

I can feel your pain, but a 645 is a big huge boat! I think a porsche 997 would have been more along the lines of an SLK. The wife must have had something to do with this I am sure :-(

Yep, the wife did have something to do with it. A 997 would have been a better choice. Or just keeping the 55, maybe. Two times on a flatbed tow truck did me in, though. I think duress influenced the change.
