I've been thinking about it for a while now and I'd like to know if there are 55 owners out there who may be interested in a similar modification.

I have plans to cover two objects inside my car with similar red leather used on the seats and doors of my AMG.

The pieces I want to cover include the spongy portion on the handbrake (e-brake) and the little rubber coin holder patch found just below the cigarette lighter (see picture).

The problem I have is that to have the exact leather, I will need to order a piece with a minimum size of 1m*1m (the mod will only require about 20cm*30cm patch). Therefore once the mod is finished, I'll have a lot of expensive left over leather.

Now, I may be able to sell this leather onwards, but if this mod works out well, I think it might be more interesting to offer the same thing to other people.

I've spoken with a guy who specialises in interior leather fitment (he does an exceptional job) and he gave me a quote on doing such a job.

With the amount of leather I have, the cost of workmanship by this guy, and the price for an extra rubber mat and e-brake cover from MB, we'd be looking at a total price of about $300.

However, if the owners supply their own handbrake cover, and if I use some stiff plastic for the rubber mat portion, I could bring this down to as little as $200. I'd be able to get roughly 20 of these mods done, so what I want to know is if anyone else is interested?

Do note that the cost I gave is VERY rough (give or take $50), I'll know more once I have a price on the handbrake cover. Also, since the interior in my car is red, I can only do this job for those who want their pieces in red AMG leather (n.b: the AMG leather is NOT the same as the designo leather). Finally, I'm not looking to profit from this, only shipping cost will vary between regions.

If you're interested in this modification, please post in here. If I get enough people interested in such a mod (no need to get both of them done, if you just want the handbrake cover done, or if you just want the rubber patch done, we can also discuss this). Additionally, if all you want is to purchase a a small patch of leather to do the job yourself, this too will be possible. I just don't want to pay major $$$ for a large piece of leather that I won't end up using in its full size (I hope you understand).

I gather you have the same black and red interior as I do? Are you interested in both of the pieces, or just one? I'll know how much each piece will cost individually once I've had another chat with the leather guy.

I spoke with the dealer, and they said the rubber piece on the handbrake (which is basically U shaped when viewed head on) costs about $150. This price is totally insane, so I'll figure out a way to make a base for this leather out of something else. This should keep the price down.

The original rubber piece on the handbrake is glued on, so if I get these things done, I won't need anyone to send me their original pieces. Just swap the little mat under the cigarette lighter with the leather one, and do the same for the handbrake (unglue old one, and glue on new one).

Okie dokie. If I can get about 10 people interested, then I'm going ahead with this. If there's more interest for it (i.e., under other colors), then I'll order more leather. the hard part will be finding a cheap substitute for the base piece, but I'm confident I'll figure something out.

I want to give the replacement piece the same firm, but soft feeling that the rest of the leather on the door handles (etc) have.

P.S: I'm not yet 100% sure if the piece is glued on. Dealer said it was, but on another forum someone mentioned that it was clipped on. I'll test it out tonight.
