3. SLK 55 AMG Performance Package

3.1 Content
• Internally ventilated composite brake discs measuring 360 x 32mm on the front axle
• AMG Nürburgring sports suspension
• AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel in leather /Alcantara (black)
• 18" AMG multi-piece twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, (front: 7.5 x 18 ET 37 with 225/40R18, rear: 8.5 x 18 ET 30 with 245/35R18 )
• 7-piece carbon trim in the interior
• Maximum speed limitation (Vmax) increased to 280 km/h

In conjunction with the AMG Nürburgring sports suspension the internally ventilated composite brake discs (360mm) on the front axle have improved fade resistance for sporty driving.

The AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel in leather/Alcantara (black), which was developed for the F1 Safety Car, has noticeably improved tactile qualities and ergonomics.

And from a similar source:

SLK55 AMG Performance Package (Option Code 030)
* Alcantara AMG sport steering wheel
* Carbon fiber trim set
* 176 mph (280 km/h) top speed (electronically limited)
* AMG "Nurburgring" sport suspension system

- AMG Compound front brakes (standard)
- AMG rear brakes: compound rotors with AMG 4-piston calipers
* AMG 18-inch twin-spoke multipiece alloy wheels with high performance tires
- Front: 7.5 x 18 inch 225 40 ZR 18

Wow, that's cool. Kinda hard to believe though. I wonder if it's because it's from a 3rd party data provider.

It would be cool if true....... no standard SLK55 would get close to 200mph on the road. Perhaps 200mph indicated could be possible on a rolling road where theres no wind resistance to overcome but even then does the gearing even allow 200mph?

Don't know where the 7000rpm Maximum Engine Speed comes from either. If the 030 does 175 @ 6100 rpm that ratio equates to 200mph @ 7000, but since I haven't had mine to 175 I don't know the rpm though I guess it less than redline.

2005 SLK55 AMG
The comparo functions on manufacturers websites are ALWAYS done by someone else (in this specific case it is AIC), this is to prevent the manufacturer from being held liable for the accuracy of the info:

"Mercedes-Benz comparisons come from Automotive Information Center (AIC), a leading provider of objective information on new and used vehicles for both consumers and professionals. AIC collects and maintains the data independently of Mercedes-Benz."

Obviously the wonk that input the data at AIC doesn't understand anything about anything. All he/she did was input the top number on the gauges. Surprised he/she didn't state that Maximum Fuel Capacity as 1 (that is what the gauge has)!

It's not a physical part. DMS in the UK will remove the speed limiter in software.

I know one tuner here in the USA who does it in the software.

Brabus does it here in the USA with an electo-mechanical part (looks like a solenoid to me) -- I'd post pictures of one of these Brabus delimit "solenoids", but I am still "on probation" and not allowed to post pics....
