V8 Badge

I want to add V8 side badges to my 06 slk55. I called the dealership and they quoted me $125 for 2 badges!!!! On ebay they sell for like $10. Are they the same thing? Anyone know where I can get quality badges for a lower prices. Yes, I'm cheap - but I'd like to think my cheapness is the reason I can now afford a SLK

Thanks in advance...

It's quite possible they are the exact same thing. Dealerships put some huge markups on parts, especially cosmetic ones. Buy those two for 20 and find out, not much of a loss if you don't like them

By the way it's not cheap, it's "thrifty"!!

Nate:
I just checked out the offerings on EBay.
They are not the same as the badges that Mercedes would place on a car with a V8 engine.
Please think this mod through before you do go and spend $$ for it.
We both have SLK55's. These are the "cream of the crop" for the line.
Look at the side of the car, and how attention is drawn to the wheels, the wheel arches, the hood strakes, etc.
Tacking on a V8 does not in any way enhance the looks of the SLK IMHO.
Rather, it will look exactly what it is - a tacked on (i.e. tacky) item.

It's your car, so do what you think looks best.

If you have a KLEEMANN SLK55 S7 / S8, then that would be another story, say "V8 KOMPRESSOR"?

Yea, after thinking about it I think I'm gonna pass.
I guess I'll have to settle for some Kleeman upgrades

You can't go wrong with KLEEMANN, even just the supercharger and ECU upgrade will boost your car to a whole new level. I think my wife is considering the SLK so I hope I can convince her KLEEMANize her ride.
