I've been planning this for a while...

Take 2 screws and grind them down where you have no thread at all. Now, superglue them to the license plate. Next, glue the license plate to the frame. Go to Target and buy some 3m double stick tape (the kind that's used for hanging pictures on the wall). Secure your license frame to the bumper with enough tape for it to stick well. Get a cop. Sign off the ticket. Pay your fine. Take it back off.

2 (or 4) cable ties to the black plastic grill below the bumper.

how about an easier way...double sided scotch tape, put on the plate with the tape, then take it off after you are done.

In Washington you can get away with putting it on your dash so its visible from windshield (WA law allows this). I don't do that because that is just as ugly as on the front of car IMHO, but what I do is keep the license plate under the mat - passenger side. If a cop pulls up and comments or pulls me over, I just say, "oops - sorry - I had it on my dash...it fell off....). Did that twice and kissed alot of butt (once on this car, once in my g35c) and the cop let it slide....

falco, with fix-it tickets, I thought you still have to get a cop to sign off that you've fixed it, even after paying the fine. You didn't have to?

Do what dsb said if the plate needs to look permanente. I get my inspection sticker with the plate mounted to the lower grill with black cable ties. After I get the sticker I cut it off and put it in the trunk. I keep cable ties on hand in case I get stopped.

First of all, will you tell us once and for all, is it just a fix-it ticket? Or a fine? Or both?

Second, PM me your address and I will send you 4 black plastic quick ties that I use for my luggage, but will disappear on the grill of your slk, yet VERY securely, and permanently, if you never cut them off, like as well as screws hold on the plate, hold your license plate in place on the front grill.

Lisa is absolutely right...

It's worked for me ! For AMG front grills, it's perfect !

As for the fix it ticket and fine...
for me it was both (CHP).
Had to get an officer to sign the citation as fixed.
And then mail it in with a $12 legal-clerk fee.

Depends, mine was given to me while parked by a meter maid so it was jsut a fine...

If a leo gave it to you then it is probably a fix it ticket...
