Seriously, perhaps MB recognized the irritation with the 1m whip.
I don't think anybody missed it (I sure didn't) but the short antenna with only 10hp gain (b/c of the aerodynamic design) isn't worth mentioning.

Sorry to brust your bubble, but this does not cost $8,500 to $9,000 in U.S. dollars. The guy who started the thread said it was 11,000 euros. Now I hope you know that 1 euro is 1.2074 U.S. dollar (4 PM Pacific Time, Nov. 2, 2005). It changes all the time, but it is over one U.S. dollar. So the really price for this is $13,280.8541 (4 PM Pacific Time, Nov. 2, 2005). Still not bad! I think it is a great deal. From a 0 to 60 in 4.2 and a 1/4 mile of 12.7 (dinko's time) to a 0 to 60mph in 3.9 seconds and some where in the low 12s for the 1/4 mile is really good! Plus it is under the Mercedes/AMG 4 year warranty and if you got the 3 year extended that is even better. But I wonder, the 63 SLK AMG is coming out in 2007 or 2008, will that car have a special upgrade. It already has 510 hp in it. You think they might raise it up to 550 hp or maybe 600.

I got my euro to U.S. dollar conversion from Yahoo Finance

Noone stated this kit is 8.5-9K. My post was that the Kleemann upgrade of headers, ecu and LSD would basically be the same in p[erformance but would cost less tahn $8500 installed...

Also i think the most recent info fo the 63 engine in the SLK is that it won't happen until after the lifecycle of the current car which should be 2009-2010MY

Don't hold your breath on this happening in the next two or three years if ever...

You really need to think before you speak. Out of all respect, will you please stop posting here. When you graduate from College, then come back. Sorry for being so straight forward but please, you've been getting on my nerves with 99% of your posts!

I went by the dealer last night and asked them to get the necessary info (i.e. part number and price for seats, steering wheel, spoiler, doors, etc...).

He didn't have this info on the internal network as of yet, but he'll do some research. It might take a few weeks.

Of all the mods shown here, the paddles excite me the most (uh oh... :v ). Does anyone know of any way to put the shift controls on the column -- so they don't rotate with the steering wheel?

That would be tricky, probably not likely to happen.

Didn't F1 safety car have these upgrades? Also I believe F1 car had a cam upgrade. Adding intake & header upgrade without cam upgrade doesn't make sense.

Our current cams are good as they are from what I know. Headers is somethign our cars need, and intake is a great bonus too -- the 55 n/a and 55 s/c engines lack a lot of air.

Agreed, the headers are the biggest hp/tq increase you can get for 1 mod. The Cam's help a lottle for our NA engines but the SC engines benefit much more.

You can already buy the Brabus steering wheel with paddles. It looks and feels better then the MB one.

I had some pics of it when I passed by at the Geneva car show. It was really nice.

I can't seem to find any on the net, so I'll post the ones I took myself (gimme an hour or two, I'll do it when I go home).

Brabus paddles would be nice. But the mod. I really want is the 50% faster shifting.

I'd also love 50% faster shifting, but if the shifts are going to be even more harsh.

Yeah, I know I'm a wussie, but coming from my wife's new Infiniti M45 Sport and my old Lexus SC430, where shifts were totally seamless (and slow on the SC430), the SLK55 I just got seems a bit harsh to me.

It would be nice if it would do silky smooth in 'C' mode, and harsh in 'S' mode, but it seems to be a bit jerky in either mode.

I guess part of it is the exhaust and that I can clearly hear the RPMs changing where I couldn't on the other two cars, but still there's a bit of a jerk to it.

Oh well, if that's the worst thing about the car then I'm totally happy. Very slightly jerky shifts are a superb trade off for far, far more speed and handling than the old SC430 had.

Ok, here's a pic. Note that this is the steering wheel Brabus ALSO puts into the SLR, so don't be surprised if this is a completely different looking car.

The Brabus sport steering wheel for the SLK and SLR are IDENTICAL. Same in every way. The only reason I'm posting this pic, instead of the one of the SLK, is because the other one doesn't show the steering wheel as well as this one does.

Enjoy!

p.s. the shifts in C mode on my 55 is silky smooth... are you sure your SLK isn't experiencing the transmission valve body defect problem some people have had? It can make transmission very rough, and seeing that you mention it being very rough in your post, I would think this is the case...

Nah, I don't think the tranny/valvebody are defective. It's just not 'seamless' and I'm picking nits. I guess I expect all modern automatics in luxury cars to be 'seamless', but I'll take the performance instead. 0-60 in 4.3 on the SLK55 matching a 6-speed Corvette C6 works for me.

Maybe we feel things differently. When driving normally, neither I, nor my passenger can feel the gears shifting in C mode, and just a tad in S mode.

Want different paddles.

Does anyone know of a way to upgrade the paddles? I don't really care for a whole new steering wheel, just the paddles themselves like the ones posted above for the SLK or below for a BMW M3. Thanks.

The pull-straps on the doors just don't cut it in my opinion -- what'd they save, 2lbs?

You're right about the hideous pull straps. Unless you are going to use the car almost exclusively on the track, why would you need to lose the weight?
