SLK55 Special order AMG 400 HP package
Upon a recent visit to Affalterbach I learned that AMG has a performance kit available for the SLK 55. The kit is made by AMG. It is 100% original AMG design and parts and only available through AMG-GbmH. It includes AMG headers, revised air-intake and re-programmed ECU. Its cost is about 11,000 euros and is only available to European customers. This kit will boost horsepower to 400 HP. I own an SLK 55 in the states and after driving this test vehicle I can tell you that the AMG modifications make a huge difference. This car feels much faster than a stock SLK 55 and E 55.
From the pictures you will notice the extensive use on carbon fiber. Interior (Doors and instrument cluster). Exterior (Mirrors and front brake cooling ducts). Also notice how AMG has replaced the standard shift buttons on the steering wheel with F1 style paddle shifters and the AMG racing seats. AMG also reprograms the transmission. AMG does away with the comfort mode. This vehicle has Sport1 mode, Sport 2 mode and Manual mode. They clam the shifts in the sport 2 mode are 50% quicker that the normal AMG Speedshift. I can personally attest that the shifts are crazy fast. They would not share performance specifications but the car feels like it could do 0-60 in 3.9 seconds and the quarter mile in the low 12’s. The interior modifications are extra and not included with the performance kit. This car is so cool.

400HP, seats, and paddle shifters look cool...
but the carbon fiber brake ducts look like cheap plastic cladding (maybe they look better in person)...
and those freakin' door straps... WTF? those look like they came off some third-world-produced luggage from the 70's. ouch.

I do like the seats - they look pretty slick, maybe I'll get some after mine wear out in 12 years. :p
Ya know, all you need to do is order some Kleemann headers & reprogrammed ECU for like $4k - $5k installed & bingo, 400 Hp. I gotta look into this faster shifting though - that could be the shiznit.

The LSD is also only about $2600 and Kleeman quotes 0-60 imporvments of .2-.3 sec with this alone do to better hookup w/i traction control...
So for <$8500 installed you could have a low 4sec(possibly 4.1-4.2?!) o-60 car and a <12.5 1/4 miler...

Our current cars, with only Headers, ECU, and LSD will do 12.3 - 12.5 easily. But again, this is just my speculation.

Lets see...
I would take the CF Instrument cluster/trim, extra power from upgrades, paddles with 50% faster shifting!, and it appears as though the center console/dash/door is all covered in leather. How much?
I'd pass on the brake intake and the $5 luggage handles.

Retrofit? Or you have to buy the car WITH this package already installed?
Yeah, first thing I thought about was "OMG, MB made a CSL version of the SLK!".
VERY SWEET!

Can anyone confirm that the shifts are 50% faster?

I've done a similar engine upgrade through Renntech, i.e. headers, air-intake and reprogrammed ECU. The increase is correct. About 400 hp to the flywheel, 330 to the wheels. Would love the paddles with reprogrammed transmission for 50% quicker shifts. If anyone can find out if this can be ordered separately, please post. As of now, Renntech doesn't do it. I asked them about upgrading manual shift speed two months ago.

In all the excitement I can't believe everyone missed the most important thing (assuming this is pic of stock assembled MB/AMG), the antenna! :p
Seriously, perhaps MB recognized the irritation with the 1m whip.
