Upgrade the Speakers?
Has anyone upgraded the speaker system in their SLK? Every car and truck I've owned I've improved the sound system. However, the SLK is my first $60K+ relatively high end car. I have the command, 6 disc cd changer, sirius set-up with Harmon Kardon upgrade, but I haven't been impressed (I'm used to booming 
). I'm obviously not going to change out the deck or anything, but I'd probably like to add some JL amps, a nice sub and perhaps replace the HK speakers. ANyone do this?

Producing a "booming" sound like in most hip hop music would not a true upgrade. The booming is usually a "hot spot" of over attenuated (4 to 6 dB higher) sounds at about the 100-150 Hz which is falsely perceived by the brain as very low frequencies (an audio illusion). The only way to achieve this would be by a larger diameter driver and this would probably require a trunk mount.

I'm not thinking about putting in a two 12" subs . I was thinking more along the lines of replacing the stock speakers with MB Quart, JL Audio or similar type speakers. With respect to "boom", probably a JL 8" sub (which I think could fit in the truck with a custom box.
