Two keys

I had an '05 SLK350 and currently have an '06 SLK55 - I have not noticed any difference in the two keys.

Is the AMG supposed to have a special key also?

Can't remember what the panic button was. But no, it doesn't have one over here.

Just lock, unlock and trunk buttons.

The part that sticks into the ignition column has a red button that says "panic"....it makes a lot of noise, flashes lights etc etc......pisses people off basically if you were to accidentally hit it and i think tele aid calls your phone to make sure you are ok

I was just looking at the BMW USA website, and their equivalent key (for the M5 at least) is a $1,000 option!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...

The "panic" button only comes with the Factory Alarm option. In the US this alarm is standard; in Canada and possibly the rest of the world, this is not the case. Guess car theft must be a bigger problem in US

In Canada, every sedan key I've seen has it, but for C-coupes, I only know of one person who has it... (and I've probably seen 15+ sets of keys)

Comfort Access?
That's keyless go. On the E55 keyless go is a 1080$ option according to MBUSA.com

slammer111, also alarm may help in insurance rates.

Yeah, but it depends where you are. Let me give you an example. Over where I live, the factory alarm costs about $500CAD. I called the insurance company here (we only have 1 company here, run by gov't) and found it that getting the alarm would save me a whopping $35CAD/year on premiums. You tell me if it's worth it

For you US people, how much do you save on your premiums by having an alarm?

I have the alarm for my SLK, but I don't have a panic button. Maybe it's not available in Europe? I also have the alarm option if the car is tilted while stopped and level...

I'd probably "feel" safer with the Alarm option....

But it cost about $500 CDN.. its all personal preference...
