pick up day, any advice?

Hi, I'm gonna pick up my car before christmas. I think it arrived today.

I wanna ask you a favor.

Is there anything I have to check up when I pick up my car?

And do you have any advice you can give me ?

It's my first mb. I can't wait.

Thank you guys and Merry Christmas.

A bucket on wheels
walk around the car a few times. Make sure the paint isn't scratched up. Maybe check the electronics (windows, radio, climate control) to make sure everything is in working order. Enjoy the beat

That's awesome news! Just make sure to "rub one out" before you go to the dealer. You'll be amazed. Post some pictures!

Check all the wheels for rash. I have had three new cars with curb rash done by the dealer. Take your radar detector for the ride home. Wipe that silly grin off your face before you go to work the next day, people will think your nuts. Congrats

My car also is arriving this week. I am told Wednesday I should be able to pick it up. I am curious if anyone knows how they load these cars on trains without damaging them? Do they use a special lift to pick them up, or is there a way to drive them onto the trains?

Good luck with your new car!!!!! I'm sure your salesperson will explain the feature content - if you got Sirius, it will have to be activated, the same for Mercedes TeleAid..... Check for any body damage (scratched, chips or dents) and are the gaps for the hood, decklid and doors even?? One of my rims was "curbed" but the dealer polished it out. I have found that washing the car and detailing it is the best way to be familar with your car. After having my car for 2 months and putting 4000 miles on it, I have 3 small stone chips and wished I had invested in a clear bra..... Enjoy!!!!

Make sure there is no car within 1/4 mile of you before you nail the accelerator down.

Congrats!

Buy the clear bra right away (if you plan on keeping the car). Also have them cut some of the material to cover the side skirts. I had mine done with 8 miles on it.

Bra

It's interesting -- with 1800 miles, I have 3 paint chips -- but none of them is in an area that would have been covered by the clear bra! They're fairly high up on the hood and above the front wheel well. So, much as I considered the bra, it wouldn't have helped me -- at least so far. I've now got my bottle of touch up paint and my box of toothpicks in hand -- will be using them this coming weekend.

I agree that washing your car is a great way to get to know it. I'd also recommend putting at least one good coat of wax on it as soon as you can --it looked as if my dealer had done some wax work, but it was uneven; I've since put 2 coats of Zymol on it, and water now beads up and flies off.

In the immortal words of an old friend of mine: "take care of your paint, and your paint will take care of you!"

If it is an AMG model check to make sure that you have the 'AMG' embroidered floor mats -- has never happened to me, but alot of guys didn't get their mats in their car at delivery (I know, guys, petty point -- but we did pay for them right? and they have to be worth at least 2 extra hp....)
