COMAND problem

I've had my 280SLK for 3 months now, and have down 4,000 miles. Twice in that period I'm driving along and suddenly the whole COMAND unit switches itself off. It then won't respond to manually trying to switch it back on.Then,in both cases. about 30 seconds later it all comes back on again.I spoke to a MB engineer and he said it's a known error.Has anyone else experienced this?

Yup this happened to me. Once it went off after the car had been running for about two minutes and I had to turn the car off and back on to reboot it. Another time it had been on for about four yours, then it went off. I hit the power button about 20 times and it came back on.

Twice

We've had our SLK55 since mid-November and it has just under 2K miles. The Command unit has powered down TWICE since we've had it. Both times it has come back on after about 30 seconds worth of repeatedly pressing the power button.

We are going to mention this to MB when we take it in for its free service.

I haven't had it power off yet but a couple of times it took a very long time to start up. Greater than a minute...
