Comfort Mode?

Tried it for the first time this morning and I think i noticed a pretty nice difference....is it in my head? Your thoughts on how much comfort mode softens the ride?

Wink Comfort mode

According to the manual, you should be driving in 'C' mode for the 1000 mile break-in period. The difference is that 'C' mode starts out in 2nd gear and shifts the transmission at lower RPMs. It is a matter of breaking in the transmission and drivetrain properly. The engine is broken-in on a stand befroe it is even installed into the car. Once you get your first thousand miles on your car, in 'C' mode, switch it to 'S' mode and you will notice a much 'sportier' ride. Have fun...

"C" mode is useful in traffic or when you have a passenger that you want to cruise around with. The most useful aspect of "C" mode is that it does not do the last down shift to first gear when you come to a stop which is a bit harsh in the 55. On the other hand, "c" mode shifts gears at lower RPM... however, under kickdown, the car just goes no matter what mode.

Must have been the placebo effect.

Perhaps it was in my head.

So are we saying that the suspension doesnt change at all in comfort mode....no changes to the smoothness of the ride?

For the "lower" AMG models like the C55 and SLK55, the suspension/springs are NOT adjustable. The S/C/M button on the gear shift console only adjusts the transmission mode.

For the newer higher end AMG models coming in 2007 which have active body control (ABC), that same button WILL also adjust the suspension settings AND throttle response (like the upcoming S65 AMG).

is that one tends to drive less aggressively in C mode & therefore uses less fuel
not that this is a big issue ...the AMG-55 is no economy car
