2nd Update - Anyone remove the resonator on a SLK55 AMG?
I thought you might be interested in the following pictures. I’m still waiting on the new microphones I ordered to be able to do the audio recording of the sound without the resonator.
The picture below is looking down the inside of the tip of the SLK55 AMG muffler. In this view you can see that there are no perforations and/or packing just straight pipe. You can see in person, but I was not able to get with the camera, all the way down to the Y where the other side is connected to the inlet. There are no restrictions in this muffler.

The picture below is the inlet to one side of the SLK55 AMG resonator. You can see perforations and what looks like steel packing for sound attenuation.

The picture below is looking further down the inlet to one side of the SLK55 AMG resonator, all the way to where the pipe begins. You can see that there is no restriction.
