facelift is due in 2008 if you wanna wait.
z4m will probably have better handling but its not like the slk 55 has bad handling. you use acceleration all the time as for handling, forget about it unless its a track car.
You sure about that?

seeing that you already have the C55 AMG, perhaps you might want to venture out and get the M4. considering you live in hong kong, you'll probably get more heads to turn if you drive the porsche though.

Yes, 110% sure. I've seen your videos & all I can say is:
1) you can't launch your SLK55 worth crap
2) you can't drive (getting pulled by a 13.2 - 13.5 sec Quarter mile car vs a 12.7 sec SLK55)

The M3 is LESS Hp, significantly LESS torque, & it weighs the same. Yet, SLK in your videos defies not only car physics, but every professional driver in every car mag test (R&T, C&D, Automobile, etc).

Your SLK is either a dog, you can't drive it (you bogged it in every instance), and/or the M3 is not stock. Maybe take the emergency brake off the SLK next time .

I admire the z4mcoupe $ / hp performance but we have very few Z4s in HK , it surely turns head here, but Z4 is just a minority here because the local taste. Z4M will also be rare as ppl like to buy Porshce Boxter for that price for better resale value. That's our special car culture.

model $ HP $ per HP
caymans 1100000 300 $3,667
slk55 990000 360 $2,750
z4mcoupe 750000 343 $2,187

i love SLK55 AMG because it is a rich man's SLK and we have a lot of poor man SLKs here to make SLK55 outstanding,
And, no one will believe how frequent we bump into 911s here.

Maybe you missed where I raced the stock M3 CSL with the SLK 55:

YES STOCK CSL

Bogging on the launches? WTF? Since when does wheelspin = bog? I launched that puppy perfectly, just the right amount of wheelspin. SLK is the easiest car I've ever driven, wtf. Slushbox + powerbraking is so easy it's laughable. It's harder on a track, but this wasn't on a track now was it.

Let's look at the facts quick:
M3 has less torque, but that means JACK **** because we aren't racing at 2000rpm.

M3 has less power on the fly, but the same on the wheels due to a more efficient powertrain? You still with me? Good.

If you read the posts in the other thread you will that the M3 has a different diff and a 1hp air filter. So it's not highly modded but it's not stock either.

The reason I posted the SLK vs M3 video is not to prove the M3 faster, but the Z4 M is faster than the M3. 10 seconds faster around the 'Ring is quite a bit faster in my book.

Locally, I consider a standard package SLK55 already has higher status than CaymanS , not to say if the SLK55 is fully loaded & with Designo.

Yes but Porsche don't make any cheapo people carriers or small cars do they! If you compare the sports cars in both makers ranges the SLK is cheaper than the SL in the same way that the Boxster is cheaper than the 911...... that doesn't make either SLK nor Boxster the poor mans anything in my book!

hah glad we sorted this out =P im in germany currently and test drove the new porsche turbo - oh my god it is nice - however, convinced my dad NOT to buy it before test driving an AMG... i know i know, it's a porsche, but here in germany they go for 150,000 EUR which is $187,000, for that money you can easily buy an SL65 and I think we all agree that an SL65 is ... just ... out of this world.

you can start ordering the new 2007 slk55. but it'll take a good 2-3 months to arrive.. but there is an option for the new limited edition amg package, new rims, and carbon fiber trimmed interior. i placed my order back in may.. so it gets here in about another 2 weeks. come by and check it out at AMG fest

Somebody was able to unlock the full potential of the 3.4 liter flat-six from the Cayman. It's now pushing the same HP as the 911S without being a 3.8 liter.

There should be a Turbo version of Z4coupe using the 335i coupe's new 300hp twin trubo engine (possibly lighter weight too) that would give 5s.

I am always keen on SLK but the price performance of Z4M Coupe seems to have an advantage. Which one will you get ?
And, shall I wait for the SLK63 ?
When is the SLK facelift due to launch ?

I drove a Z4M this weekend, while I was at my dealer, without a doubt I think that the SLK55 is a better car. The Z4M is nice, however the interior is cramped, the visibility was poor and there is no way it compares to the SLK55torque. That ability to drop the top in the SLK is also a big plus.

Don't get me wrong, the Z4M is a very nice car, but if a coupe is what you want, the CaymanS is a better choice than the Z4M.

I attended the AMG Challenge two weeks ago and the NA AMG marketing guru told me that the 63 engine is not slated for the SLK. He mentioned that there were phyical issues with the 63 design that would not work in the SLK without modifications to the the SLK body. I'm not sure if I beleive that or not, but I will tell you this, the 63 is a bad*ss engine. I drove the CLS63 and the CLK63, and if they could get the 63 in the SLK it would be incredible!!

Sometimes I think BMW has allowed a randomization program to desgin their cars, it's funny to see lines such as the one at the bottom of the doors, where did that come from? I wouldn't be suprised if a few more years go by when all of a sudden, at a press conference, they state that they were just seeing how great their engines were by wrapping them around the ugliest bodies they could come up with, proving that people will still buy their cars just due to their great engines, it's only a matter of time. Sorry if I offend.

SLK55, no question. Much nicer car. You get coupe and convertible in one. Also, I wouldn't hold my breadth for an SLK63. I don't think there will be one. AMG told me the engine is too big for the car. However, you could get headers and high flow air filters for the SLK55 and be close to 400 hp.

Looking for a new toy.
I like the looks of the Z4M, but with no BMW dealer local to me, I ruled it out for that reason alone. Would have probably still ended up with the SLK55 though, because other that performance (mine ran 12.8 at 110.5 bone stock LINK to timeslip (RIGHT Lane) ), there's no topping (pardon the pun) that hard top convertible design!

what a shock

This is a mercedes board ... most people are going to say SLK55.

Now my input :
what are you freaking crazy ... no comparison. SLK55 over CaymanS or BMW Z4M.

Now in HK ... If I remember correctly you will see a ton of SLKs ... but rarely a SLK55. Should score mucho points.

SL65
I'll only say this. I saw my first SLK 55 in person today. It was irridium silver and that car really stood out. I've seen quite a few regular SLKs around and never gave them any notice, but the SLK 55 caught my eye right away as something different. It had an amazing presence, not like any of the other AMG cars as there's so little to set them apart from the regular versions let alone the M cars which all look the same. It looked mean, fast, and fun. I want one now...
