How is 0-100mph in 9.6 seconds slower than the AMG?

The 0-60 is slower...C&D recorded a 4.3 with the SLK55 and 10.3 0-100 so the z4 is faster to 100 by a half second. That's why.

So noooo Mr. Antagonist, in one measurement it is and in another it's not. The difference is the 55 is documented and the bmw is estimated by the tuner. We know that can be off plus or minus. For 100 plus G's it better show something that's marginally better, but the 55 is STILL documented to be faster until someone test the tuned up bmw.

But to sooth your brain, top end speed probably would be faster based on the stats. back at yah

I was just teasing! It just amused me that you considered a car that was faster to 60mph as "faster" than the car that theoretically hits 100mph in a quicker time. To me 0-60 times are getting less and less meaningful as so many of the better sportscars manage very similar times...... 0-100mph tends to seperate the men from the boys.

I'm interested because I love cars..... even though I didn't buy the 55 in the end it doesn't mean I don't like it still.

P.S. The SLK55 AMG Race Control car sounded fantastic yesterday at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (over here in the UK)

I enjoy the banter back and forth, I'm not a sensitive poster at all. I differ with you on the speed measurements, though. Real world is more 0-60 than 0-100 at least in the states as far as real street driving. On the track I agree with you. You better be able to do better than me on every category if you spend twice as much and call yourself a super car. I would just call it a super expensive car for the bang for performance buck.

The car reads like it was made from the AMG recipe book. Performance and specs -wise, it's pretty similar to the SKL55 Track Sport (or Club Sport, or whatever it will be called) and is pretty much the same price.

But the SLK has that 'tighter' look that I prefer more.
