2002M3
I'm kind of shocked when there is only 100 lbs reduction for using the non-retractable carbon-fiber roof and the rest of lightweight components they used. But all in all, definitely a great improvement and I’m sure going to be fast straight-line beast. It would be perfect if this great AMG engine fitted in a Cayman S or Z4M Coupe or reduction of 300 lbs would be perfection to be a great handling & powerful roaster.

reduction in weight
I think that the actually reduction in weight of removing the conv. motors and using a carbon composite roof are more than 100lbs. What you are seeing is the total difference between the two cars. For this black line model they have also added addition parts which attribute to additional weight. Ex. additional coolers for tranny etc.

fenders flared
anyone else notice this when looking at the pictures of the SLK Black edition?
Seems like the rear is definitely wider ... if you notice, it looks like that tiny mud guard (or whatever it is) extends to the fender not just the bumper.
The front fender also looks wider ...

45hp just from a set of headers and an ECU reprogram?! No new cams needed? That seems kind of high, I could see 15-25hp but 45hp?!

its still an auto
just imagine how nice it would be w/ a 6 speed, lsd and even more aggresive suspension
to me its a half assed job
that can b done to any slk55 for a lot cheaper than the 100000

Two things
Someone mentioned that with these seats, you lose the AirScarf. However, since the Black Series is fixed-roof, do you really need the heat up that high?
Second - Sorry, but I wouldn't have this car. To me, most of the fun is driving it topless. I love it for the fact that we can drop the roof, pop up the AirScarf temp, and run in (almost) any weather. Thanks, but I'll keep my SLK55 until I hit the lottery - then it's an SL65 for me.
