Whoa there brother. I'm not sure if you've been listening, but I have every modification that Brabus offers on the SLK - including the B55 engine performance modifications. My car is featured in the SLK section of the BRABUS website, has been featured in several Brabus print ads and is currently featured in a Best Life Magazine article about Brabus and CEC. Claus Ettensberger himself - owner of Brabus - asked that I provide my car for the article. I think that qualifies me to have the Brabus badge on my car.
So what do you mean by a "Brabus Kit"? Here is a list of my modifications:
BRABUS MONOBLOCK S LIGHT ALLOY WHEELS
19 x 8.5 ET 50
19 x 9.5 ET 50
BRABUS B55 S PERFORMANCE UPGRADE
420 HP
533 Nm
BRABUS ALCANTARA INTERIOR UPGRADE, STAGE I
With Carbon Fiber Accents
BRABUS ALCANTARA SPORT STEERING WHEEL with F1 PADDLE SHIFT
BRABUS ROADSTER BARS
Fully Stainless Steel
Gloss Polished with Carbon Fiber
BRABUS ILLUMINATED GEAR SHIFT KNOB
Alcantara and Aluminum
BRABUS ILLUMINATED ENTRANCE PANELS
BRABUS DOORLOCK PINS
BRABUS SL-TYPE RADIO ANTENNA
VERTICAL DOORS by VERTICAL DOORS, INC.
Does that qualify?????? Oh, and if you would like to see my new beige leather piped custom Brabus floor mats, I can picture them as well.
And if you live in the OC, haven't you seen my car at the Crystal Cove or Cars & Coffee car meets???
Sounds like you are in a bit over your head chief.

Sorry buddy but I don't believe that is your car. Please post cancelled checks, credit card recipts, bank statements and applicable Brabus serial numbers.
Then and only then will I believe you.

lilnora......... by any chance did you get a chance to compare the base SLK55AMG to the 030 pkg thats on yours. (I was curious to know if there was a significant difference in the handling of the car............. was it more responsive.....etc......?)
Thanks
Thanks

i def. prefer the 030 package... but i ordered my car blindsighted bc the car i test drove didn't have the 030 package.. i wanted my car fully loaded to the max haha but this package is def. responsive in my opinion and handles really well... the brakes are amazing!!!

I have driven both and own one with everything but 030. IMHO you are better off spending the 7K on 19" wheels (HRE, BRABUS etc). Unlike the other AMG's, the 030 on the SLK does not include a limited slip diff (I would have given the option more thought). The Brakes and the suspension do not make any difference in terms of normal road use.
Also, i felt that the 7K from the 030 would be instantly lost to depriciation!

LSD, lighter wheels, perhaps black series fenders would have done it for me. As it is, I'd pass every time.

I totally agree. For $7K you could also get a hot camshaft and valve spring upgrade from Brabus that would add 50hp. It may not sound like much, but it is a suprising jump in performance - and without the engine stress of a supercharger.
I still really like what she got on her SLK though. I particularly like the carbon fiber interior accents. Her's is the first I have seen come from the factory like that.
One thing I have really leared - and perhaps the hard way - is that performance is really all about weight. If you want to quicken up the ride, lighten her up. Just 100 lbs can make a world of difference. Buying weight is like an engine enhancement. I even felt it when I went from the stock roadster bars (which weigh like 100 lbs) to my carbon fiber ones (that weigh about 40 lbs). I think Brabus wheels are kind of heavy. But I love the way they look. It's a trade-off I guess.

amg performance package
dear lilnora:Question to those with Performance package: Is the ride uncomfortable on imperfect roads? As compared to the standard suspension-- if you've ever been in one with.
Would you tend to NOT recommend the PP for cars that will do little if any track time, or is it worth having even on the street?
Ignoring the upgraded carbon trim for the moment...
tanx boys!
(and girls, that was from another thread, where no one responeded, yet)
ps I like BOTH the white and red cars. Hate to see us winging arrows at each other, just not worth it, too much contention in the world as it is!

Ok, got it, thanks lilnora. I'd change my order to add the perpkg if someone could persuade me to, but the last thing i want is to firm up the ride on imperfect roads, many of those 'round here. I dont capishe why some are saying not to get it, though. Got to improve handling, besides I'll always envy you with that cool carbon trim!

Didnt know anything about the "sl-type" antenna, though. Is that "sl" as in MB model SL? Cant tell if there are two things going here, or whether the Sirius change is the same thing. I'll ask the dealer to do both and then judge from the look on his/her face.
(Or some kind-hearted person could explain it here!)
Funny thing about information in this country, its like a commodity, you got
to pay for it in some way or another. I dont operate that way, I give whatever to whomever, assuming its wise to.
