I own Z, however I bought it just because I was in hurry and MB didn't have a color I wanted. I tested both before purchasing. Certainly SLK is more comfortable with more luxury features. Can you believe that Z doesn't have garage door opener and alarm system? There is no rear camera, parking sensors, voice command. My co-worker just bought SLK55 in color I wanted and I compared both car, SLK wins everywhere, look, comfort, speed and handling. Needless to say that BMW dealers just suck.
You can consider Saturn Sky RL, I read a report of some guy who sold SL55 to replace it by Saturn and has no regret yet.

I have an M3 Manual and I would kill to give up my M3 right now and have an SLK 55 AMG.
I've driven SLK 55 more than handful of times and this car really is something else. SLK 55 is in a different league vs. an M3 or Z4M.
P.S. if anyone wants to trade their slk55 with my M3 PM me. seriously.
