After waiting 2 LONG years, I finally got my SLK55. I originally had this car on order in early 2004, but there was a huge wating list here in Toronto, Canada and I eventually gave up and cancelled the order. I recently visited a dealer and fell in love all over again.... These days, there are quite a few in stock so I was able to make what I hope is a pretty good deal. I purchased a brand new loaded 2006 model that they had left over. The car is Ir. Silver / Black, has rain sensing wipers, airscarf, command with navigation and HK stereo upgrade, bi-xenon light package and telephone pre-wiring. I got a $6700 discount + no freight or PDI ($2995). For years I've been a BMW "M" series driver, Ive owned a 97 M3, 99 MZ3 and a 2000 M5 and most recently an Infiniti G35 which I traded in on the SLK55 becuase I really missed the german feel and the service that you get with this type of car. I absolutely LOVE the SLK ! It feels faster than the M5 and handles just as good as the M3 ! Plus it has Killer Good Looks !!!!

I can't see any need for major mods on this car, but are there any basic things that you can do to give a little extra performance?

You might want to get headers; gives you the extra sound and performance.

I'm talkin about inexpensive small upgrades .... I would like to do some small upgrades before moving to something like headers ... The car sounds pretty awesome stiock ! Are air filter upgrades worthwhile?

In my opinion, not really but worth giving a shot.

You can use green filters or BMS filters. I would suggest using the BMS filters.

It's been raining here in Toronto all week. I picked the car up on Thursday in the rain I was really glad that I chose silver over black (I had a tough time deciding) when I saw how messy the car looked after the 20 minute trip home. We are supposed to get some sunshine this week so I'll certainly take some pics and add then to the picture thread. The picture thread really helped me with my colour choice !

i've had the green filters installed for about a year now. they work great. better sound coming out too

Congratulations on the new SLK55, especially for a fellow Torontonian (the centre of the Canadian universe.....LOL)!

AMG cars are relatively rare in T.O. And AMG owners RARELY come out for the local meets.

Congrats Chris, glad it worked out for ya - I know how you feel as I was a couple years waiting before I pulled the trigger too. Sounds like a decent deal you got too, I got $2500 off MSRP back in August on a "stripper" *L* model - just bi-xenons and airscarf. But then Canadian models come with a lot of items that are optional in other markets. We've been having a warm fall (so far) out east, hope the weather stays nice up your way for awhile yet.

Finally got around to taking a couple of pics of the new Toy ! I am sooooo happy I finally decided on silver ! I was very torn between silver and black !

Looks good, and silver will be a LOT easier to keep clean than black. Too bad Ontario has that silly front license plate requirement though.
