Looking for a new toy.
If someone REALLY wants your car, no matter what you drive or how it's protected, they're going to get it. Just use some common sense on where/how you park your car to discourage the casual thief, and don't worry about the professionals - they'll get it anyway.
Seriously though, just keep it locked at all times (even when you're in it) in as secure an area as you can and don't let it worry you to death.

Well for what its worth, this is what the MBUSA website says about SmartKey:
SmartKey uses an electronic code to unlock the steering column and ignition. Removing SmartKey from ignition disables engine computer to help prevent unauthorized starting.
Sounds pretty good to me, certainly better than most other types of car keys. Then again, I'm not a car theif so I have no idea how any of that works. Also I know that the key uses a rolling code so it is constantly changing.

Would be thieves will shy away from MB's and BMW as they are nearly impossible to steal, Pro's will take it regardless of the security systems. If they want it that bad, a gun to anyone's head will do it. Don't worry about it and just drive it, that's what's insurance is for.
