To all members with the 07 SLK55, does your right side mirror tilt down when in reverse?

I believe MB deleted that function for the 07s. Ive looked through an 07 owners manual and there is no mention of it. My 06 has the tilt in reverse function and I find it very handy. Not sure if there is a software workaround to enable it on the 07s.

Chris,
the only reason I asked is because on the MBUSA website it's available as standard features for the 07 SLK55.

Maybe they havent updated the website. When I purchased my 06, my dealer gave me 07 manuals by mistake. I was playing with the set-up menus on my car and saw an option for parking assist (cant remember exactly what it was called in the menu). I checked the 07 manual to get details on how to set it up, but found nothing. When I got my proper 06 manuals, there is a section on setting them up. Ive also read some posts on other MB message boards where others have confirmed that MB removed that option for 07.

My mirror doesn't tilt...I was manually doing it for a while when I first got mine but no anymore. Would like the option to when needed.

Why would Mercedes make that kind of a mistake?

Looking for a new toy.
It's a nice feature for sure, use it all the time - can't see why MB would delete it?!

Possibly MB got some safety complaints when it was automatic...it's still available

After my last post in this thread I found some free time to open my owner’s manual, something I tell all my clients to do with their software. I should practice what I preach. Now it's the driver's option when he/she goes into reverse if they want the exterior mirror(s) to point down - hit a preset memory switch.

Driver's Seat Memory: 2007 SLK Class Owners Manual - Page 107
You can set up one of three the driver's seat memory switches to point one or both mirrors down. Driver's memory seat controls the steering wheel, seat adjustment, and exterior rear mirrors.
The setup...
• Adjust the seat on the driver's side, also the steering wheel and exterior rear mirrors to the desired positions.
• Press memory button M
• Release memory button M and press a memory position switch (1,2 or 3) within 3 seconds.
All settings are stored to the selected position.

You may have two setups with the same seat and steering configuration and the rears of course would be different.

Just moments ago I was going to set my rear mirrors but when I hit button 3 - guess what... both exterior mirrors moved to the down position. I didn't set this; maybe this was done at factory. I know not all the time I would want my rear mirrors to point down when I put my SLK into reverse. I'm happy with it this way.

So, if you'll excuse me, nature calling, I have some reading to do.

SLK 350 (2006)
On my US '06 SLK 350 you have to select the right mirror button in the center console. Then adjust the mirror to point down. Then click on the left mirror button again. Next time you reverse, if you want to see the curb, click the right mirror button. It will go to the last remembered setting. When you want it back normal again, click the left mirror button.

All of that is kind of confusing so that may be why they changed it to use the "extra" seat memory switch. I may set that up anyway since there are only 2 of us that drive the car.

You have to program it.
Read the manual under help parking and memory pack.
It's all clearly explained.

MB really should issue a DVD to all owners to explain and show them how to operate and use all the features. It would save everyone a lot of time... but then again, this website is a very handy substitute!

While not related to this specific discusssion, Mercedes and AMG also need to ensure that their website data is updated to the latest build configuration, since the brouchers are typically outdated by the time they are printed and most Mercedes dealerships do not have a clue. Quality "Product", quality "Service" and quality "Communication" = Customer Satisfaction. Come on guys - not so hard to understand so why isn't the brand a benchmark????

I negotiated a car cover for a website error on option content that was previously identified but not fully corrected when I purchased my SLK55. Perhaps this might be an opportunity for you as well.....

Having worked in automotive, market research shows less than 20% view videos or DVD's. Recognizing OEM's are doing everything to save costs (probably including deleting options like the passenger side tilt parking feature), I understand why they don't include DVD's but the option to view this detail on-line should be made available to the 20% who are really interested in learning about their vehicles.....
