Roll Bar install??
I'm thinking about changing the stock roll bars to Chrome, or Stainless Steel. Has anyone performed this mod and installed the new bars by themselves, if so how hard is it?
I haven't found any "instructions" that I can view before making the purchase and I'm not about to pay the dealer for install.
Thanks.

Instructions have been posted, but it might have been at the other forum.
I think for my roadster might have the instructions as well if you buy from them. In all honesty, you should ask and receive them from anyone selling you aftermarket roll bars. MBSLK.DE might have had instructions for the old model SLK... but I haven't checked that out in a while (it's all in German).
As far as being difficult, well, people say it's more a pain in the *** then anything else. It is however a 3-9 hours job (depending on how good you're at this kind of stuff) and requires taking apart quite a bit of your car. Once this is done, you better hope you've put it all back together correctly, or you'll end up with rattles...
I'd let an expert do it if possible. It'll cost you, but the job will be well done. If you're getting lit door sills, then you might wanna do that job at the same time to reduce time (similar parts need to be removed I believe).
The seats get in the way of this mod I think.

I search the forum and didn't have any luck.
Thanks for the information, I'd assume instructions are included with any set of bars, hopefully in English

I may see if I can get a copy somewhere first. I have plenty of tools and patience and would prefer to do the work myself assuming no special (read expensive) tools are needed.
Even though a profesional install would be nice, I've found that I'm more careful around my car than anyone else, plus the stafisfaction of doing my own work is worth the extra time.
When I do the install I'll be sure to document and post it.
Thanks

I was definitely thinking about getting the chrome roll bars on my 55 as well. My dad has a Mercedes repair shop, so he could easily do it. They look great on your car, AMGFeVer!
