Carbon Fiber Grill Inserts
Anyone have an update on availability of CF grill "wings" for R171's? I thought I saw them advertised recently, but can't find anything now. I know it's been talked about before. Thanks.

They never update their website, which is weird because they are a very high-caliber tuner and one of the top kleemann installers on the east coast. Give them a call or email though. They make a lot of other unique products for the SLK as well, like carbon fiber roof.

Update
Well, I heard from both C2 Design and MP-Design. Chris at C2 Design has custom-made the CF inserts before. He uses a CF laminate over the original body (OEM grill insert). Would take about a month at cost of $695. He said price could come down with multiple orders, but the one-offs are purely custom work. I also asked about the CF top (roof) and cost is $4500. I love the looks of both pieces, but cost is just too much for me, though probably in line with custom fabrication.
I got a return e-mail from Carola Steinkohl at MP-Design which said: "Please get in contact with our partner company Performance Products in Van Nuys (Los Angeles). They distribute our chrome parts programme. The contact person is Mr. Tom Davis." So no luck there - I had already checked Performance Products and they have chrome, but no CF.
So it is available, but at a steep price.
