I doubt it will be SLK63, according to some reports that engine won't fit SLK and was never designed for it. The new C63 though, was made specifically to accept that engine from the start, so that's a different story. It does suck that CLK and C are getting that engine and we don't, but unfortunately, that's the reality we SLK55 owners have to face
On a brighter side, a supercharger is about 16,000$ installed and will produce more hp and torque than a C/CLK63. Now that you can buy a used SLK55 for under 50 grand, it makes perfect sense (at least to me) to supercharge it for total cost of less than SLK55's MSRP.
Plenty of SLK55's have over 500hp already.. I will have close to 600hp in about 3 weeks

I'm not saying you can't do it, but it would be impractical. With the rear tires limited to being 265 due to chassis design and a light rear already 500hp or more would be undrivable for most people. Your 600HP monster will need sticky tires, lsd, and you'll still have problems with traction at over 60. Mercedes makes cars, not deathtraps I'm afraid. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Traction control keeps things sane (as does a Kleemann LSD) and if you want even better traction, R compound track tires should be the next purchase.
The car is an absolute GAS to drive!

Undrivable? Where are you getting that? A ZO6 has almost the same rwhp my SLK & weighs ~ 250 less & they drive fine. With any high Hp car, proper driving skill is a must but the car is completly driveable.

P.S. I alose drove a few ~1000hp vette's and viper's.. which were also fairly driveable. The trick is being smooth and careful throttle inputs. Basically just don't drive like an idiot and you're fine, trust me.

I'm sure the blown SLK is a blast to drive, but with that much power many will find it just too much for the SLK to handle.

I think its possible to fit 275's in the rear. According to the kleemann price list, they list 275/30/19 as a possible rear tire size. Check it out... scroll all the way down, its under SLK R171.

Yes it does, but it also comes stock with huge 325 tires in the rear compared the the SLKs 245s. That's a lot more meat on the road. The Z06 also has better weight distribution and isn't so nose heavy. The C6, Viper, etc chassis was designed for those high HP numbers whereas the SLK really wasn't. LSD would have to be a requirement then, but I don't see Mercedes making that standard. They won't for any other car except the 65s.

2) IF MB were to release an SLK63, it wouldn't be riding on 245s (like NeedForSpeed said, 275s will fit on today's cars - & MB can easlily widen the rubber via a rim offset and/or widen the track to accomodate more rubber if they think it's required). Even with T/C turned off, our S7 drives fine. It's no different than any other high Hp 2 seat sports car. Besides, nobody in their right mind would be buying a 500 Hp/high dollar 2 seat sports car with only "casual" driving in mind. I don't care what chassis you are in...that much power in a 3,100 - 3,400 lbs car is going to require some attention. As they say, "If it's too hot in the kitchen, get out".
