It's like this:

08 brakes and newer are the smallest.
05-07 brakes are medium sized.
030 brakes are the largest (the optional brakes which can be had if you pay $$$ to have the bigger rims and all that stuff)

thank you shinigami...are the 08 brakes the ones that some people are getting squealing from?

seems like purchase or lease, one is better off with an 07. provided you can get the extras you want. so far, seems like people are not finding the P30 package worth it.

Some say the package is not worth it because the 030 Wheels are heavy but every other item in that package is nice especially the stiffer springs.

thanks alroumi...but the people concerned over the heavier tires are probably racing their car?

and the heavier springs: sounds like they are suited for racing at high speeds but might lead to a bumpier, less comfortable everyday ride. yes?

wow SLK. so you replaced the P30 rims?

did you get the P30 package because you race?....are the heavier springs gonna give you a bumpier, less smooth everyday ride? they would seem to be in general less forgiving over bumps and things.

030

I got it because I test drove an 030 and then a normal over the mountain roads near my house. I had also test drove a 997S the day before. The 030 was definitely a better handler than the stock slk55. As a result I decided to get the 030 because the ride was not unacceptable to me.

Yes I got rid of the 030 rims ... they are heavy as hell.

SLK55, thanks...hey, i saw your beautiful car photos posted. I'm getting caspian blue as well...so, your photos show the regular stock SLK 55 rims. Is that correct? Did you trade the P30 rims in?

ahh. ok SLK. i was looking at your photos of P30 brakes. they were stock rims....so, if you didn't race, would you still change out the P30 rims?

030 rims

If I wasn't concerned about weight .. then maybe I wouldn't have. But it isn't always just about weight. You might want to individualize your SLK55 and try and put on different rims.

For me the 030 package had nothing to do with the rims.

If I got a 2008, I'd get the 030 package for sure. However, I think the 2007 is a great setup. New steering wheel with paddles and you can still get good brakes without the need for the 030 package.
