Yes, the SL one fits, but you'll lose on radio reception quality and unlocking your car from some distances will no longer work. Think of it as working half as good as the standard one.

Be wary of some of the SL antenna imitations sold on eBay, many of them are just the antenna core (no wire inside) and when screwed on, will give you almost no radio signal and unlocking your car with the key buttons will only work from very close up. These are the cheapest ones.

You can get a black 'shorter' antenna for the SLK from MB. It should behave roughly as well as the standard one, but it's definitely shorter. This is specifically made for the SLK and has a matt black finish (it has some rings on it, so painting it the color of your car wouldn't really make it look all that good).

You could contact Brabus, and get their short antenna kit. It comes not only with the SL antenna, but also an antenna wire which can be installed inside the rear bumper, thus ensuring just as good radio reception and key control. I think it's about $200.

The Brabus one is your best bet. The most expensive one too (especially when you count the labor involved in removing the bumper, gluing in the cable all around, and putting it back in). The Brabus antenna can be had in the color of your car, and if you paint the base piece as well, should ensure a VERY NICE fit and finish. I've been thinking of doing this for a long time, just haven't come down to it.

Shinigami,

That's some very useful information. In addition, there is now a fix for the small R170 antenna. Total expense is about $80. It works just as good as the original whip antenna. Have a look:
