Kelly Book Value is 41K. And with gas approaching $5, there may not be as much demand for V8's. But 43K is pretty good bang for the buck.
If the car is certified pre-owned from a dealer it would be worth it.
Maintenance records would be a plus, however.

Are you buying from a private party or a dealer of sorts? That generally plays a part in pricing.

Does the car come with any options? Assuming the car does not have additional options, meaning H/K sound, Designo edition, multi disk CD, nav, premium wheels, etc..the car books for around $36k. If the car DOES have the additional options, then it books for around $38k. These numbers are more representative of Private Party selling. If you went to a retail (dealer) then the price would be around $41k, and around 43k with the additional options. Auction prices are around $33k.

Hope this helps

SLK 55 AMG
Those prices are so low low low... the SLK55 AMG is keeping its prices pretty well over here, I can still get nearly $70k for mine, and it has 40k miles on the clock.

Yep! That's the current state of the US economy here nowadays...
Why do you think many Europeans and Canadians are coming over to get great deals on highline cars and then ship it back to their respective country! The US $ isn't doing too well at all compared to the Euros, Pound, and even the Canadian $.

Actually 40k on a nearly 4 year old 63k car represents good retention value. The 5 year value looks to be over 50%.

Best of luck with the new ride. There are usually few discounts on convertibles at this time of year ;-)

SLK55///AMG The MONSTER on the block
2005 SLK 55, 11,000 miles, $42,000. A ton of car (literally) for the money. Smart move, and $30,000 difference will buy a lot of gas. I did the same thing last year. I was waiting for the release of the 2008s and found a fully loaded, BEAUTIFUL, reasonably priced 2005 SLK 55. Glad I did it.

Nav, bluetooth, headed seats, sat radio...not sure how many other options this car came in but when I say the original sticker for the car, it was going for 69k.

over all a great car.
