CD changer removal?
I cannot determine how to remove 6CD changer from my 2006 SLK55. Have followed posted instructions. removed faceplate. Cannot see any fasters for the unit, as shown in posted instructions. Tugging unit results in no removal and impression that the unit is bolted in. Problem is that I can see no evidence of fastener. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks

I had same problem. Resolved using a large pair of channel lock pliers, and grabbed the Unit and jerked it out. It was a tight fit is all. I placed a leather work glove (fingers) between the CD unit and pliers teeth to prevent marring of the unit.
Anyone need a CD changer for an 05 SLK55?

I haven't pulled mine but have no intention to but this sounds a bit to me like as was the case in the older cars with Becker and Alpine Radios there are flat metal keys to insert to compress the latches which then lock into the unit so the rings on the keys give you pull tabs.
Look for a vertical slot maybe 3/8 in long and 1/16th wide on each side of the CD unit.
If they are there and you don't have keys then cut narrow strips out of the lid of a margarine container and cut one end at about 60 degrees.
Push the pointed end in until you feel the latch compress. It will come out easier IF this is the situation. I cannot be sure.
