the SLK55 comes standard with the 'small' command head-unit system Stereo and a CD-Player. In the US, the 320 package also includes a 6-CD Changer in the glove compartment and the 420 package upgrades to the DVD-based Command III with the big (16x9) screen and map-based SAT navigation. But, no tape player available anymore!

I'm not sure about the new SLKs but the Cs and CLKs that have a command system can have an aux input attached to the command with the input plug installed in the glove compartment. The cable is shown below.
I am not sure whether this is available for the new SLK command systems but it is worth looking into.

The new C class dont even have that anymore if i remember correctly. I know my C55 with nav does not have a cassette player.

Nice car dude! iam in boston now, I didnt even see 1 c55, well saw very few AMG's maybe 2 , CL55, E55... hows your C55? cant wait for my slk damnnnnnnnnnnnn!, you know, i was going to get the C55 instead (just because i'll get it early and i think its more mature than slk) in people's eye mostly hehe , enjoooooy your car dude!!!!!!
