The SLK is made in Bremen entirely (with the SLK55 AMG having the engine built in Affalterbach and then shipped to Bremen). Of course, no car in the world uses 100% domestic parts anymore :-)

Just a C class thing. Mercedes is trying to produce their C class (as well as their A class, which isn't sold in NA) outside Germany - for cost reasons. They have a pretty good size factory in South Africa :-)

True, but Mercedes would love to move the entire line and A Class. We had a bit of a spat with a one week on-and-off strike about a month ago, when Mercedes (again) was threatening just that. In the end, SA (or the US, Mexico or China for that matter - all locales that MB, BMW and VW are now producing at) is just a lot cheaper than Germany. We'll see how it all goes :-)
