Best times on SLK55?

I'm searching for sources to find the best performance times (and safety ratings) on the 2005 SLK55.

Perhaps there are some links or published 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, braking distances, slalom times and safety ratings someone could post for me?

Meantime, I'll start looking around.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about actual figures as I haven't seen any proper reviews of the SLK55 yet...... but these figures are taken from the AMG brochure:

0-62mph 4.9 sec
0-1000m 23.8 sec (quarter mile is 402m)

I'd expect the 0-100 time to be between 12.5 and 13 sec (the quarter mile time will probably be similar as well)

I know I'm being a tad optimistic here, but due to the cars aggressive 7G tronic transmission, and inherently powerful and torquey engine, we may see 0-60 take 4.5-4.7 seconds, all due to the very short 2nd gear and engine output. The 0-100mph may be even in the 11's and 0-124mph in around 16-17 seconds, which for this class is very quick and nearly around Ferrari 355 time....ok maybe a tad optimistic there.

With its driving behaviour on marks with the Boxster and better than Z4, the SLK55 will drive like a completely different beast to all the other AMG's, probably the best drivers car out of the lot.

Hmmm, maybe not. Motor Trend posted a 4.5 0-60 sprint for the AMG CLK with the same powerplant, slower tranny, & an extra 320 lbs in weight.

I suppose its still relatively heavy compared to a Vette (200 lbs more) & with approx 40 less horse, but they (Chevy & R & T) are getting 4.2 sec sprints from them too. A 4.5 sec for the SLK55 is likely possible. Pretty sprite.

It won't matter anyway, I'm getting a blower anyway so all the Vette will see is my wife's tail lights .

Problem with this psychology, though, is that the C6 guys can always add that "blower" too, and if you get into an all-out performance part building war with Chevrolet, you'll likely be on the shorter end of the stick; certainly financially.

It is certainly much cheaper to build go-fast cars with Chevrolet than it is with MB. (Parts and tuner shops are everywhere, compared to the relatively few for MB.)

Hmmm, no, not really. I've got my yellow RX-7 for pulling Vettes (its a mid 11 second car right now & I'm going to a big single turbo this winter for another 100 - 150 RWHP). The Benz is being procured for its superior build quality in addition to being "sprite". Its not an all out race car like our R1 - it wasn't meant to be.

Besides, if I install a blower on the Benz & its still not satisfactory (I think it will be for my wife's purposes), a head & cam package ('ala SLR) along with a tuned ECU & pulley on the blower is good for 600 hp at the flywheel....plenty enough for a blown C6. I highly doubt, at least in the begining, I'll put a blower on the Benz. But, we'll see how it goes as its up to my wife's preference.

See ya,
-Matt

I quoted 0-62mph in 4.9...... 0-62.5 would therefore be around 4.92sec
