I rent. The owner wouldn't sell. Even as a tear down beach shack at $600,000. And I don't park it there (no garage), I keep it stored at another location.

But forget about that!

I bought, I think, the first used SLK 55 AMG and wasn't told anything much about its origins except that it had aftermarket wheels and smoked tail lights added - that's it. And yet, I knew it was one of a kind because it originally had a name, PLATINUM, on it where, like, the word Kompressor used to be on the old SLKs. I had it taken off because I felt it was too flashy.

WELL, I received major flak for doing that, so I thought since I just got the pics and was doing all this stuff involving the wheels, I would call Platinum Motorsports in LA and see if I could get some more Platinum logos to put back on the car.

The minute I told him the make of my car, he knew it, "the silver one". He said the car was out before all the others and had ALOT more stuff on it, including a BRABUS lowering racing suspension! And, it was used for all these magazine pictures as well! He said when the magazines come out he'll get me copies, and in the meantime, I'll be up there in LA this wknd getting my car's name back so at the dealership they can keep calling it, "the Platinum". I am so jazzed!

I LOVE MY SLK 55!!!!

Of course, now that I think of it, I am going to have the car checked to see if it is just the regular AMG lowering suspension (the SLK55 AMG does come w/this "standard" doesn't it?) or a Brabus one and I don't have the list of the other stuff the car supposedly has, but I just can't help but think that while filling out the car's 130 pt Starmark checklist, nobody noticed that, among other things, the car had a Brabus suspension!

They were on the car when I got it, but I think Platinum Motorsports (in Los Angeles) did all the aftermarket stuff (323-935-9222).

Also, I just read the thread of the poster (Amistad) who owned this car before me and he says to take the tail lights to any body shop and they can do it.

Brabus suspension.

It should be easy to check- Just look for the rear shocks. The stock AMG's are black aand clearly marked AMG and are "made in Poland". Good luck with your beautiful car.
