I Ran My Car At The Strip This Weekend...
i ran my slk55 at the strip a few times this saturday. i played with it a few runs with traction control ON and it kept robbing me too much off the line. i went a few 13.0X's at about 107-109 and 1 12.97 at 108.7.
i then decided to give my own throttle feel a go and left traction off and i only had enough time for 1 run. here is what i did...

please disregard the reaction time. i was in a daze thinking about whether to hit the traction button right after my launch
let me tell you this car is seriously fast.i really let into it a little too easy for fear of wheel spin and i had a ****ty 60 ft. And I did not even take a pound of air out of the rears. with a good set of nittos or DR's this is a low to mid 12 second car EASY!!!
i am going to go back this weekend and try a bit better. i am also going to CMP in kershaw SC on the 12th to run it on the open track. that is where i am most at home with a car so we will see how it fairs compared to the viper.
regards
george

SLK55
Great post!
I too am a novice at the drags- but I got some advice so I'll pass it on.
Because the car is traction limited, it was suggested to run with a full tank of gas, add octane boost, and drop rear tire PSI to 20.
This probably means that leaving the spare tire in may actually help the ET, but probably hurt the speed.
Give it a try and let us know
