The seller has a lot of other very high end autos on there. I suspect he has set the "reserves" at MSR. He won't sell any of them on e-Bay, but he will get a lot of free publicity. Scam!

Yeah I remember for the first year and a half, the supposedly MBZ enforced for class rule, "You will not sell this car on Ebay, or at auction for more than MSRP unless the proceeds are benefitting a charitable cause" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, Right!" MBUSA sure did one helluva job at enforcing that didn't they? "Herr Sirs - this is America and they will do anything they want to for money in this country. And the SLR is the kind of car that they know that they can ask for sums of money over MSRP for."
Kinda like campaign finance reform, or a Senate ethics bill! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I remember when Jay had just gotten his and I found a dealer in the Midwest who had one landing and I flew in to meet with the GM and the owner of the dealership - "Well, Mr. Greenbacks, the highest offer over seven figures will take this car". I fell out of my chair and literally rolled on the floor laughing. "Well, I wish you the best of luck, then, and I won't waste anymore of your time (or mine)."
Ebay and supercars? Free advertising, and the occasional proof of PT Barnum's posit.

Option 2 many times results in "a less than enchanced relationship with the factory" on future orders of other more desireable models. It puts the dealer in a hard spot either way, particularly considering the very soft market for this model. Although $280,000 won't take it now, I am sure the reserve is well below the $465,000 list.

They are being sold for less than MSRP now -- $425K-$445K that I've seen. I think that invoice on this car is like $420K? Still WAY above $280K -- that had to be a starting bids at amount. I'd be willing to bet also that his reserve figure was well below MSRP. But I think that you're right, MBZFAN55, it was probably his allocation car on the SLR...and I hope he sells it, and I hope some happy buyer gets to enjoy it.....
