I think it's still to high.

I was offered one for 320,000 with 800 miles.

The market for SLR is kinda dead. Even for carrera GT is kinda dead.

It's weird really. I have 1 guy desperately looking for 1 but he aint spending 365k.

I wouldn't touch that car until they hit 210 or so. After the hit I am about to take on my SL65 because the way benz dealers drop the out going year 40 or 50k on a 65 and close to 100k on an SLR they really screw the guys that paid even what seemed to be a good price at the time they bought. When the SLR and Carrera GT hit the close to 200k mark they will be great cars that you won't get burned on when you sell but at 360 it still has a ways to fall in this market. I would like to see Allan Lambo in a Benz though!!! At least then you could run stuff in the 1/4 and actually win!! (besides AJ running 13's in his Z)

It's such a shame to see these SLRs sitting everywhere. They have had a black one at Globe where I bought my car since at least March--that's when I first saw it. MB Morristown has a Silver one, and Ray Catena has two one in Edison and one in Union. WTF??? I guess this venture didn't work out like they had planned.

Btw, Globe recently posted this video ad for their SLR. Whats with the dumb ho in that hideous outfit?

They really are everywhere and its a shame although I'm not about to feel bad for MB or it's dealers that sell and service them. IMO, there are a lot of cars I would rather have before the SLR even if they discounted it by 50%. The SLR reminds me of those outrageous items you see in the annual Neiman Marcus Christmas book...Where most can appreciate what it is but question who in their right mind would actually buy it.

As far as that Globe video The last thing that chunky thing in the video is going to do is help sell a car

A little off topic:

Speaking of the Neiman Marcus Christams book, they offered a limited edition 2007 BMW M6. All 50 were sold within 1 min 32 sec of them becoming available. But that wasn't the outrageous item I was talking about

The pricing strategy of MB is flawed and that is the reason for the huge decline in used MB prices and for the large inventory of used SLR's on the market. The SLR is a nice car at $200k but still way overpriced at $300-$320k.

If you buy now at $320 or so you are going to take a fast $100,000 hit!

I would take SLR at 300k I think it's a great buy compared to other cars.

F430 is going for 350k. Thats crazy. Carrera GT is at 300k range too. It's just a bad time for cars at the moment. I think it's the economy.

Ya mercedes mass produce all of their models. I think the they decrease production already on the new S65s there arent many around. I have been to a few dealerships most of them dont have it. Have to order.

Y'ALL HAVE A GREAT THANKS FGIVING DAY!

If they are offered now at $330k you should be able to get your SLR at $300k very soon. Please keep us posted on your purchase.

The LP is a warmed over Murci with an insane MSRP. Same thing would go for one of them, until it hits 200k it will drop like a rock and when an all new Lambo comes out forget it. The SLR and the CGT are the cars to get in the not too distant future at a reasonable price with the major depreciation behind them.

Huh? What kind of stuff are you smoking or what kind of pills are you popping? I'm not saying that to be nasty, just to be funny. Since when has anyone ever purchased a new car knowing that it would appreciate in value for sure? When I bought my CGT, I never considered that it was going to go up in value but I did hope it would retain a decent resale value when I sold it someday.

I'm kinda interested in a McLaren SLR again. I took one for a test ride in March of this year. Nice..... but the price was $467,000. Ouch! I might have to give MarcusBenz a call and see if they or maybe even some other dealer is interested in a trade of my Ford GT on their SLR. Mags

According to the posts above, there are 60 SLR's offered on Auto Trader and on eBay they are offered at $330,000. I read that MB has around 800 SLR's out there and plans to sell 4,000 more in the next few years. The dealers will kill you on the Ford GT trade in and you will get wacked again on the continued SLR price declines. Traders don't buy stocks when they are going down and probably the same idea would apply here! I think the 210 number mentioned above sounds about right and people buying now are in for a quick $150,000 loss in value.

Not sure where you read that= there are 430something in the USA, and production has stopped- so, what is out there, is all of them.

I was off a bit on the exact numbers but here is what the Wikipedia entry for MB SLR says: "Mercedes-Benz has stated that they will build 3500 SLRs in a span of over 7 years, with an annual production of only 500 cars. The 1000th car was produced in February 2006, in black for a Japanese customer."

resale

why do ferrari's prices hold up so well even tho they're not good daily drivers? they seem to be do much better than any other luxury brand out there - porsches for sure, but also even other exclusive brands like aston martin and even the S65's. as for the SLRs, perhaps it'll be different in person, but even when it first came out i thought i wasn't very attractive...the front's too long, and it just reminded of a SLK w/ a longer hood.

Where did I say I expect cars to appreciate? All I said was I am done taking massive 40% hits in a year or two and I feel the SLR and CGT are still on the way down but will be fairly stable at probably the low 200k mark and then will be great buys that you can enjoy for a while and not loose your *** when you sell them like most of the new exotics (except some ferraris) out there.

If you bothered to look you would find that Wikipedia contributors are supposed to list sources for their additions to the site. What roccoriley quoted from Wikipedia regarding the SLR production numbers was referenced by an article, please refer to the link below. An intelligent reader would of course question what they read and check the additional sources for themselves which are clearly listed at the end of each Wikipedia entry.
