SLR/C199/R199/Z199: Anyone elses wheels peeling?
The car has around 7000 miles on it, and it has been awfully hot this summer, but c'mon, peeling?
Fortunately, the underneath is simply brushed aluminum, but it looks awful anyway.
Anyone else out there?
Oh, and for the squeaky brake crowd out there.... the SLR's brake squeak is NOTHING like the squeal from other CF brakes (Carrera GT, Enzo, F430, Koenigsegg, Veyron). It's many, many orders of magnitude worse! We've actually identified our car stopping from over 1 mile away! It would probably damage your hearing if you were too close.
And burning them in only lasts for about 1 or 2 days, then it's back.

I tried to make this as big as I can, to give detail.

I have seen a lot of wheels that have been touched up, even on SLR's
I dont think the dealer would warranty them, they are about $2500 each, you would have to be a realllll good customer for that.
I have a guy(in the LA area) who can fix them for about $250 per wheel. looks like new and gives a warranty.

SL55 then SL65 every year, wife has a S-class and an SL, he has SLR in silver/red and and SLR in Black/black, and MB-USA told him to pound sand over a interior rattle on the silver/red car.
This is not the MB of old, they do not support the dealer network and do not care about the client.

Basically these rims need to be hand washed and sprayed with a gel solvent.
Not the owners fault ..... just seems like abuse from chemicals or minimum wage car wash employees.

If they don't cover it, I'd be very, very surprised
Clay couldn't have this problem since his "collections" collect dust while he sits in Missouri
All I know is that I won't be doubting you:
